Parkinson’s Education: Benevilla 3rd Parkinson’s Workshop is June 15th

June 08, 2018

Benevilla will be hosting their 3rd Parkinson’s education Wellness Workshop Friday, June 15th.  These FREE workshops provide resources and solutions to help caregivers of loved ones with Parkinson’s disease become aware of the unique concerns related to the care of their loved ones and aid them in living better lives.  Each workshop is led by a carefully selected expert in the field who will provide guidance and answers to your questions.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive, degenerative disease of the brain that produces movement disorders and deficits in executive functions, working memory, visuospatial functions, and internal control of attention. It is named after James Parkinson (1755-1824), the English neurologist who described the first case.

The 3rd Parkinson’s education workshop topic “Emotional Impact of Parkinson’s Disease” will be presented Friday, June 15th by Lori Nisson, MSW, LCSW, the Family and Community Services Director with Banner Sun Health Research Institute and the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute.

Lori Nisson has spent more than twenty years specializing in leadership and clinical positions, serving the needs of patients and families coping with emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problems. Ms. Nisson is a distinguished speaker who provides training and Parkinson’s education to professionals, patients and caregivers on topics relating to memory changes, movement disorders and behavioral health issues. Ms. Nisson also serves on the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association Leadership Council

This workshop will run from 9:00AM until 10:30AM and will begin with an interactive balance activity.   It will be held at St. Clement of Rome Church where the Benevilla Restorative Life Enrichment Program is located.  The address is 15800 N Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ, 85351.  Tours of the Benevilla Restorative Program will be available.
