Benevilla Donation Recipient from Fifth Annual Taste of Surprise

May 24, 2018

Benevilla, the West Valley’s premier human services nonprofit, today announced it is grateful to once again be a recipient of a donation from proceeds raised at the Taste of Surprise event hosted by the Rotary Club of Surprise held April 7, 2018.

The Taste of Surprise, now in its fifth year, was held for the second time in Surprise Stadium.  It is the signature annual fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Surprise.  Over 1500 people attended the Saturday night event sampling incredible and diverse cuisine from over 45 local restaurants including Birt’s Bistro at Benevilla.  The date for the 2019 Taste of Surprise event has been set for Saturday, April 6, 2019.

The net proceeds of the event totaling over $30,000 were donated among 9 local nonprofits: Benevilla, One Step Beyond, A New Leaf, Surprise Youth Foundation, Black Family Child Services, WHAM, Homeless Youth Connection, Valley View Food Bank and The Rotary Club of Surprise Community Foundation.

“Thank You to the Rotary Club of Surprise for their commitment to the community and their passionate support of nonprofits like Benevilla,” said Sara Villanueva, Benevilla Vice President of Development.  “This year’s event was incredible and it just keeps getting better.  It has grown into an amazing display of what the city of Surprise has to offer from a restaurant, social, entertainment and resource perspective.”

Benevilla will be using this generous donation to fund their Home Services Program and C.A.R.E.S. information and resources programs.  The Home Services Program provides homebound seniors with limited resources and options assistance to help them maintain their independence.  These free services include: grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, personal business assistance, handyman services, friendly visitor check-ins and phone pals.  All services are provided by a team of generous Benevilla volunteers. The Benevilla C.A.R.E.S. program provides community assistance, resources, education and support to caregivers in the community.
