September 21, 2018

West Valley, AZ – Benevilla is excited to once again be part of the West Valley “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday, October 13, 2018. The walk will be held at Beardsley Recreation Center, 12755 Beardsley Road in Sun City West. This cause is very important to the team at Benevilla and the organization’s mission championed through our Alzheimer’s support group.

The Benevilla team will consist of over 40 staff, members and volunteers, all united to walk in support of ending Alzheimer’s disease.

Did you know by 2025, Arizona will have 200,000 residents suffering from Alzheimer’s disease? This is over a 53% increase from today. Also, 35% of caregivers for seniors with Alzheimer’s or other dementia report their health has gotten worse due to care responsibilities (Caregiver.org).

Benevilla provides support to those with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones with their many programs and services including their four Life Enrichment Day Programs and our Alzheimer’s support group. Benevilla Life Enrichment Programs provide a safe and active place for older adults living with chronic illness who require constant care and attention by a family member.  Your loved one will be invited to participate in physical, social and cognitive activities by our professional, caring and compassionate staff in our Alzheimer’s support group. These programs provide respite for family members caring for a loved one.

“Thank you to all community members who will participate in the West Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s this year,” stated Joanne Thomson, Benevilla President and CEO, “it is exciting to see this event grow every year and wonderful to see the support for such an important cause.”

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association “Walk to End Alzheimer’s®” is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit human services agency dedicated to enhancing the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, adults with cognitive disabilities, children, and families. Services are provided through a dedicated group of staff and volunteers.
