Jessie Arbel has been a part of the Benevilla family for the last eight years. Arbel was introduced to the local social services agency when she began attending a Benevilla Caregiver Support Group, after her husband fell into a devastating coma that ultimately resulted in a lifelong memory problem.
At the free caregiver group, Jessie was able to have her questions answered and the support she received from her new Benevilla family was invaluable. Jessie’s husband is now enrolled in a Benevilla Life Enrichment Program, where he is offered tailored services to support his health condition and Jessie is given time away from her everyday caregiver duties.
Jessie also has an adult daughter with developmental disabilities. Carrie Arbel, attends Benevilla’s Helping Partners Program (HPP) in Sun City, a program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Carrie worked hard to get her food handler’s card through the Group Supported Employment Program and with her new skill set Carrie is now able to work and volunteer at other Benevilla Life Enrichment Programs.
Carrie is also a thriving member of the Benevilla family, often performing her interpretive dance at Benevilla events and with the HPP Choir.
“If I had not visited that first Benevilla Caregiver Support Group, I don’t know what I would have done” said Jessie, “Benevilla is more than a program, it is a family.”
