The Sun City Elks Lodge #2559 has donated to Wirtzie’s Preschool & Child Care a handmade Beanie Babies® hotel playground built by a lodge member and 50 assorted Beanie Babies contributed by members of the Sun City Elks and Ladies Auxiliary.
“We so appreciate the thoughtfulness of this donation,” said Gwen Shawley, director of Wirtzie’s. “The children were so excited to have this wonderful set and the toys to play with. The Elks have become a big part of our Wirtzie’s/Benevilla community, and it’s heartwarming to see the generations interacting.”
In keeping with the Elks’ motto of “Elks Care, Elks, Share” and Benevilla’s mission of “Cultivating Caring Communities”, Lodge #2559’s twenty-nine hundred members wanted to once again partner with Benevilla on a community outreach initiative.
“Benevilla’s intergenerational program brings together people of all ages to learn from each other and grow as a community,” said Benevilla President & CEO Michelle Dionisio. “More and more of the local service clubs and social organizations are joining with Benevilla in community projects such as our Community Garden, Community Market, arts programs, and, of course, our Wirtzie’s intergenerational program which brings seniors and young children together for shared activities in a happy, supervised environment.”
