The next event in the ART VIBE series, “Fortresses Under Fire: a behind the scenes look at how the world’s largest aviation mural was painted” will be Thursday, May 28, 5:00-6:30 PM at Benevilla.
Artist John W. Clark will take the audience through the incredible journey of this remarkable work of aviation art, a 25 ft. by 75 ft. oil-on-linen mural at the World War II Gallery of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum painted by renowned aviation artist Keith Ferris. The mural depicts the 70th mission of the B-17G known as “Thunder Bird” on its August 15, 1944 return to base in Molesworth, England.
Mr. Clark is an artist with a lifelong passion for aviation. For over 40 years his efforts have been directed toward commissioned works for Astronomy Magazine, NASA, and the US Air Force Art Program. His work can be seen at www.JohnWClark.com.
Benevilla’s Creative Aging program provides opportunities for local artists and community members to collaborate and grow. ART VIBE joins other creative offerings held at Benevilla and Birt’s Bistro every week.
ART VIBE is a free event open to all ages. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 623-584-4999.
